Nedco News - 1.6.1 Product Status Update
Since the launch of The Rain Collector in April of this year, the product has undergone some major changes to bring about many improvements.
Now in its 3rd version, we thought it would be important to provide a brief product status update.
The Rain Collector is now offered in 4 colours: Hunter Green, Khaki, Black and Espresso. This came about when a different supply line of barrels was found. This led to the inclusion of the first new feature. The barrels come in a translucent white and are then cleaned and painted to customer order specifications. The new feature is incorporated into the painting template as the water level line.
The water level line obviously shows the user how much water is in the system, but can also be used to visually indicate how much water has been used from the system for specific tasks - something that cannot easily be done with Municipal water until the water bill arrives.
The inlet port of the unit was improved to incorporate a fitting for the diverter hose to plug onto. Version 1 units simply had an open hole for the hose to fit into. We found this to require heavy sealant around the hose to prevent water leakage. This became time consuming and the sealant did not always hold up to the heat of the sun. Version 2 of the product came as it does now, but without an integrated inlet adapter. The one on Version 2 units was a testing inlet plug that relied on the secure connection between hose and inlet to keep it together in the bung cap. The inlet now used in Version 3 is a securely fixed inlet that the customer simply connects the hose on. This now makes the Rain Collector “Plug and Play” so to speak, in that all of its parts now either plug onto a fitting or screw into a pre-drilled hole.
Nedco Products held a vendor booth at the recent Windfall Ecology Festival on June 7 & 8, 2008. This was the first mass-public launch for the new product and the response was a success. With orders from this show, Nedco Products sold its 25th unit of The Rain Collector and is now on its way to to 50th. Both the sales of Twin and Solo units are accounted for in this sales figure.
The company has been active in promoting water conservation and The Rain Collector in print advertising, print articles, and local television appearances and it continues to do so by building effective relationships with strategic parters and vendors.
